This project was in collaboration with an advanced digital art and design class at Canyon Crest Academy and the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy (SDRVC). Students worked in conjunction with SDRVC's Ana Lutz to come up with a patch design for the people who complete all five sections of open trail along the San Dieguito watershed in San Diego CA, totalling 70 miles from the mountains to the sea. Students were given a history and design brief from Ana Lutz on campus and were given a week to produce patch ideas that were then submitted to the full staff at SDRVC to vote/select their choices. They chose a Coast to Crest patch by Angie Pei (Class of 19) and an SDRVC patch by Steven Zheng (Class of 22). This was an incredible opportunity for high school students to work with a client on a real project while learning the history of the region and its indigenous peoples the Kumeyaay and Diegueno.
